Born Robert Macgregor in 1671, Rob Roy embarked upon the violent life of an outlaw after the Duke of Montrose seized his land and his fortune in 1712. Tales abound of his generosity to the poor and oppressed, earning him the reputation of a latter day Robin Hood. In 1715, he lead the Jacobite Rebellion.
